Detailed installation instructions Prickstop for Fiat Ducato

Instructions for installing the burglar protection for the driver and rear doors: Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer, Citroen Jumper

Preliminary note

You should before installing the Prick stop Consider whether you want to replace the speakers at the same time. It is also advisable to cover the door with aluminum butyrics. This improves the acoustics of the speakers and reduces the sound transmission through the door. It is less work if everything is done in one go.

The most recommended speakers are these specific retrofit speakers from Eton (advertising link).

I myself have installed slightly cheaper speakers from another manufacturer. The performance is significantly better than with the originals, but I am not 100% satisfied, so I am not naming the manufacturer here.

Prick Stop installation on the driver’s door

To install the Prickstop you need the following tools:

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Torx T30
  • 10mm socket with ratchet and extension
  • Flat screwdrivers or other prying tools
  • Possibly knife, adhesive tape and pliers

Removing the cladding parts

Dismantling the loudspeaker

The speaker grille is attached at three points from the front.

You can pry it off with a pry tool or a flat screwdriver (be careful of scratches! I used a plastic knife) and pull it off with a tug forward.

The loudspeaker can remain mounted, behind it are screws that connect the door panel to the door. Remove these.

Removing the window switch

This is actually the most difficult step for most people. Again, use a flat screwdriver or a flat pry tool to pry out the switch unit in the door panel. The console is very difficult to pull out. To do this, start at the rear end in the direction of travel and pry the panel upwards. It helps if you use old credit cards or similar pieces of plastic to fill the gap. You can then thread it out at the front.

Now unplug the power cord.

Removing the door handle covers

There is a plastic cover behind the door handle (door opener). You can also lever this off. Behind it you will find two screws, which you then remove.

Another cover is located on the top left corner of the armrest. Pry this up and remove the two screws. If blackout blinds are installed, these should at least be loosened so that you can push the cover up.

Two Phillips screws also need to be loosened under the small side compartment.

Remove armrest

You can now remove the armrest. The armrest is still attached to the cable of the door opener. Do not remove this. Fasten the armrest temporarily so that you can remove the door panel in the next step.

Removing the door panel

The door panel must now be pried off all around. Start near the clips. Individual clips may break, but they usually remain intact. The clips usually stay stuck in the door. Then remove the clips using a prying tool or pliers.

There is a film underneath the door panel. You can try to carefully remove it all the way around, but it is easier to cut it in the shape of a cross near the door handle. After installing the prick stop, you can close the film again with adhesive tape.

Installation of the Prick Stop burglar protection

You now have the two fastening nuts for the door handle in front of you. When removing the nuts, make sure that they do not fall into the door. You can use adhesive tape or a little grease to prevent the nuts from falling out of the socket of the socket wrench. To be on the safe side, you can also close the gaps with a cloth.

Now place the Prick Stop burglar protection on the threaded rods and screw the nuts back on. The cut-out tabs with the holes must be facing away from you.

Now you can close the foil and reinstall all the trim parts in reverse order.

Installation of the Prick Stop on the rear door

The installation of the Prick Stop for the rear door is much easier than on the driver's door.

The first step is to remove the lower door panel at the level of the door handle. You will then see the door lock in front of you.

Some vehicles already have a reinforcement plate from the factory, but this does not have the same function as the prick stop. If this plate is present, slide the prick stop between this plate and the body. Otherwise, install the plate as described for the driver's door.

You can find numerous useful installation videos on YouTube. It is advisable to watch a few before installation. I don't want to link to a specific one here. Simply enter "Fiat Ducato Prickstop Installation" in the YouTube search.
